When you were little these stories were told to you, with all good intentions. Your parents believed them too. So easy to believe, why question. The opposite could not be told. If you tell a child that evil wins, he becomes evil. Then everything is fair, nobody is watching, nothing to watch. It also does not go very well with the ego.
